First call

I'm currently working on Data analysis of call center data. Basically, I'm managing data related to call center agents' activity, and building analysis and reports that look to relate agent activity (for example, number of calls, inactivity levels (time agents spend on calls), call/talk duration, number of conversations, etc.) with performance indicators. So my job is about finding patterns and trends in the data to help increase productivity and forecast targets.

I'm currently doing an analysis on Number of calls Vs. Performance: I'm basically building some charts that allow visualising the relatioxhipt between the number of calls and the performance. This analysis also looks to find the optimal number of calls we should request our agents to make in a day. I have to report that to my manager, so I have to prepare weekly and monthly reports. These reports usually show the result for the entire division, so the big picture but we also have to be able to break them out by TL and also by each agent.

I'm also working on an analysis about the best times to get leads: Here I'm analyzing historical data of the leads generated in the last year and building some charts (histograms mainly) that show the distributions of the leads we got per hour, per day, per week; the kind of lead is generated. It also displays many details of the leads like Industry, size of the company, location of the company, etc.

Before this possition I was working in a business-related position, as a Business development representative at the company IDG Connect. This is a position related to sales.

I'm looking for a position in IT, especially in software development or Data Sciences. Actually, my academic background and professional experience are in physics and IT (Data analysis/programming) and I recently got a second degree in IT and a diploma in Predictive data analytics. So my current position is not really related to my studies and previous professional experience.

Presentación

I have a background in geophysics. I'm a geophysical engineer, and I also have a master degree in Petroleum Geoscience. This background in Geophysics is related to the oil industry, I worked oil field for serveral years. Those are a degree that I got in my country, in Venezuela. (because of this backgrond in physics I have strong mathematical and analytical skills)

But the thing is that, even when I was studing geophysic, I was always interested in IT, especially programming, so during my experience as a Geophysicist, I've been always involved in projects related to IT.

That’s why In France, when I was living in France, I did a master's degree in complementary computer studies (conversion degree).

Then when I moved to Ireland I decided to completely reorient my career toward IT, so I got a second degree, a bachelor degree in IT and finally a Diploma in Predictive Data Analytics; I'm particulary interested Data Analytics and Software development.

Now regarding my work experience, as a geophysicist,

I have experience as an Academic Assistant at Simon Bolívar University, where I was responsible for teaching some modules of the Geophysical Engineering program at Simón Bolívar University.

Then I worked as a Seismic data processing analyst at CGGVeritas. Seismic data processing is actually the sector where I specialized when I was working in geophysics. I also worked in Seismic data processing and Seismic modeling as a Research geophysicist at Simón Bolívar University, where I was responsible for performing a set of signal analysis (seismic processing) tasks and ensuring the correct integration and implementation of geophysical applications into a computer cluster platform.

Then, when I was living in France I had a experience as a Web programmer in an organization called WikiVox, where I was responsible for the installation and administration of a Wiki Web Application based on the MediaWiki engine.

Finally, my current job is not really related to my studies but to my language skills because I speak French and Spanish. I'm currently working as a pre-sales agent. This is my only Business experience cause I always worked in thecnical positions.

Yes, well that is a concept that I really understand. But I think I'm gonna have some trouble trying to explain it clearly. I don't have a concrete concept in mind but I give you an example ... bla bla bla.. Sorry, I think it wasn't the best explanation, but again it's a concept that I use often and that I understand.

Well, that is something that I haven't done in a while, so it is not fresh on my mind now so I won't be able to give you many details or a good answer regarding these topics. You know it would be hard for me to remember all these technical details, but I can tell you that those are concepts that I managed for several years. So those are knowledge that is somewhere in my mind, and I would be able to retake these topics in a very short time.

That's not a concept I'm really familiar with yet, but Linux is something I’m really excited about. For example, I've recently been working with...

How would you describe yourself

Well, people usually describe me as someone that never gives up, and people usually trust me quickly, so I suppose that I'm trustworthy. But I have always thought that I'm somebody that knows how and when to be patient, and I work hard when I want to accomplish something. I'm also very Methodical, Analytical, I'd say detail-oriented, meticulous.

I'm not someone very extroverted, I'm mostly introverted, but you know some people consider introvertive like something negative but I don't see it that way. Introvertive doesn't really mean shy; which is the adjective that many people use to describe introvertive. I don't really consider myself very shy but more or less introverted.. You know I'm very analytical, I never act without thinking twice.

So, to summarize, I don't give up easily, I'm trustworthy, I'm patient and a hard worker, and I'm a Methodical, Analytical person.

What is your greatest strength

I think that is my technical knowledge. The scope of my skills. I have 2 master degrees and 2 different fields, and I also have professional experience in different areas. So I think that during my academic and professional experiences I have developed many different technical skills: mathematical and analytical skils, programing skills (I have worked with many programming languages). I have experience with data analysis and data processing. I have experience in Linux, I have an excelent academic lavel in Relational databases, cloud computing. On the other hand, I speak 4 languages. I also have a business-related experience in sales.

But if you ask me about soft skills. I'd say that I'm very methodical and detail-oriented.. and I think that being methodical and detail-oriented is an important characteristic for many positions. When I do something I need to do it as well as possible... I just can not do something just for doing it and leaving it with bad quality. I really need to feel happy with the result when I do something related to my work.

Cuel es tu defecto - What is your greatest weakness

I am by nature very methodical and (meticulous, I'd say that I'm detail-oriented), so, some people say that sometimes, I can take more time than other people doing something. I could maybe spend more than I should because I could be focusing too much on details. I don't know! It is difficult for me to leave something with details that need to be fixed. But that is when I work without a strict deadline or specific timeframe. When I work in a team using some agile software development framework I just adapt myself. I know that, even if it is hard for me, sometimes you need to advance and leave details for later.

I means it's only when I have to work in something new, that I have to learn in the moment; because I consider that it's important to have good bases. I think that good bases are very important to advance correctly, in a good way. So I usually prefer to take my time at the beginning.. (but after finding my method, I can be very fast and effective). that's my nature.. but I also know that can be important to adapt to the pace of the team, and I'm able to do it.

Actually.. that was when I was working in research that I received this criticism, where you have to work autonomously without any supervision, but in a company there is always a supervision, and I'm able to adapt myself to the pace of a team; I don't have any problems working in team. Because when I worked in companies, I hadn't problems with that.

But that doesn't mean that I can't work without supervision. Actually I also like to work autonomously, because I like to manage my time.

What do people most often criticize about you

Well! my family says that I'm stubborn.. it is maybe true.. it's hard for me to change my mind when I'm believe something..

What are your pet peeves

I don't like when I have to do the same task all day long for a long time.. I like to you know learn new things.. have other responsabilities...

How do you handle stress and pressure

For me stress and pressure are often related to deadlines; and I think that when you have too many things to do, you have to set priorities.. so that's what I usually do.. so I try to organize my tasks depending on their priority

I use a task application (Google Tasks) to organize my task. So this application allows me to organize very well my task and set priorities and I can even synchronize them with google calendar.

How do you handle failure

When I fail at something I try to understand where the mistake was... and espacially I try to learn from the mistake... to improve this specific point. So I try to focus on the causes instead of the result. So I just try to learn from the failures.

Why should we hire you

The most important thing is that I have the technical competence for this job. I have analyzed in detail the job description and I'm sure my competences match with the required profile from your company. Also, because the position match perfectly with my professionals and personnels goals, so that's why I feel very motivated; and I'm sure my motivation will be a plus for the work performance. Because I'm sure that I won't be problems working hard in this position because I really like what I have to do.

I'm glad to say that I'm a very flexible and adaptable candidate. I believe my ability to speak three languages -English, French and Spanish- -Three of the most widely spoken languages- make me a flexible candidate that can be easily relocate and can participate in international projects. Because I think in nowadays, languages are very important, and specially here in Europe. Also, my experience living abroad -in France and now in Ireland. This proves that I'm adaptable. it's not evident to live in another country. It's something that you have to have lived, to say that you are able to adapt. I'm really convinced that this adaptability is a real competence (asset) for many companies in in nowadays… (because (Due) to the large number of international agreements…)

My computer skills make me a flexible candidate, but also.. and another thing for which I consider that I'm a good candidate it's because for this position you're looking for somebody with 1 or 2 years of experiences in Linux; so maybe a fresh graduate. And even if I've been working exclusively as a Linux Engineer only for some years, I already have a career as a Geophysical Engineer, and throughout my experience as an Engineer I have developed skills that are also very important in any position (I mean, apart from the technical skills): - I have excellent problem solving skills - I have good math skills - I have good communication skills (interpersonal communication). And especially writing skills. I'm really confident writing memos and reports. I really think that I have skills to explain in a easy way some technical problem (issue). - I know how to manage my time to prioritize my activities. Se manejar mi tiempo y priorizar mis actividades.

Because we know that in a job there are a lot of thing apart from the technical issues, that are also very important in the job performance and I'm convinced that's the difference between a fresh graduate and me. I believe that I can offer you a better performance (in a general sense) than a fresh graduate.

Esta es una posición que realmente corresponde con mis expectativas profesionales. Yo se que yo haría un excelente trabajo en esta posición. Yo soy una persona que pone en primer plano su trabajo y el sector de helthcare is something that I relly like. Yo soy alguien que tiene que trabajar en elgo que le gusta. Creo que por mi CV usted puede ver que yo podría conseguuir con facilidad una posicion en IT pero yo no estoy buscando por cualquier posición, estoy buscando por una posición que realmente cumple con mis expectativas

I am equally comfortable working as a member of a team and independently. I have proven experience working as a team player at CGGVeritas and in a R&D Unit. I have also worked independently during my experience as an academic assistant at Simón Bolívar University.

I fell good working with other people. During my experience working as a team player I have never had problems. They were all good experiences.

And I have experience as a team player not only in a professional environment. Also, I have always combined my activities with sports. I was a member of the volleyball team of my state when I was a child and member of the Water polo team at Simón Bolívar University, where I attended at 5 national university games. And I think they are also good examples to prove my skills working as a team player.

I have also worked as a Swimming instructor in an elementary school, so I have worked with children.

How do you evaluate success

Success needs a goal?

First, I've always thought that success come from doing what we love to do. I'm convinced that we must to fell good about what we do. Now to have a good performance in our job I believe that it is very important to set goals, to set objectives, and to realize these objectives, we must be consistent, we must to dedicated to come true our goals. And it's that I believe that success come realizing, little by little, our personal goals.

Para mi el éxito se logra, en primer lugar, haciendo lo que uno le a uno le gusta hacer. Yo creo que eso es vital para alcanzar el éxito, uno tiene que sentirse bien con lo que hace. Ahora bien, para poder desempeñarse bien en su trabajo, creo que es importante fijarse metas, fijarse objetivos y trabajar para alcanzarlos; y para esto hay que tener constancia, yo creo que la constancia y la dedicación son valores muy importantes para lograr nuestro objetivos y así en éxito. El éxito se logra cuando uno alcanza sus objetivos personales.

What do you find are the most difficult decisions to make

I think it's when they are involving other peoples in the team, because it represent a risk not only for me but also for other peoples.

Your travel experience, study abroad and living in other countries

I really enjoy traveling, I like very much to know other cultures, to meet peoples from different countries. One particular think I love it's to know a culture through its food... I really like to try food from different countries.

In general I think that living in another country(abroad) is a very enriching experience, not only because you can learn another language, but also because meeting people from other cultures makes you an open-minded person. I think I have learned a lot living abroad... and I enjoy that experience.

My experience living in France has made me keen to continue living abroad and accordingly I would be happy to relocate anywhere in the world, and would consider it a privilege to do so. I believe my ability to speak three languages -English, French and Spanish- and my computer skills make me a flexible candidate...

What are your salary expectations

30.000 per year That's what I'm asking in Ireland, because I know the salary range. But I’m not sure about the salaries in other countries.
